As most of you readers have been following the purchase of the Black Pearl and the build of the M4 FrankenRifle I have done the chrono testing of both weapon systems. As most if not all of you Airsoft Operators know that most of not all fields/airsoft arenas have a FPS (Feet Per Second) limit. All the fields I Airsoft at have a 400 fps limit on all AEGs with a few exceptions. Sniper rifles are in a category of all it's own for the simple fact that most if not all bolt action sniper rifles will exceed the 400 FPS right out of the box with no upgrades.
Back to my weapon systems: The Black Pearl which is a stock Gen 5 UTG APS2 Airsoft Master Sniper Rifle with a few 'tricks' done to her chronos at 430 FPS consistently using .25 weight BBs. My M4 FrankenRifle which is a mismatch of parts from various weapons new and old consistently fires at 390 FPS using .25 BBs. I will say that FrankenRifle does have a 6.03 tight bore barrel, APS Hybrid Ver.2 Airsoft AEG 8mm Quick Spring Change Gearbox with a M130 spring, high torque motor and powered by a 11.1 LiPo. Other than that FrankenRifle only has a few 'Tricks' in her. Due to the FPS driving both of the weapon systems I have had to increase the weight of the BBs being used in both. The Black Pearl is using .36 BBs which has corrected the accuracy to a consistent 3" x 3" grouping at 100'. FrankenRifle is utilizing .30 BBs for consistent accuracy for a DMR weapon system. I highly recommend using a chrono to optimize your weapon systems. This will take most of the guess work out tuning your weapon systems before you get to your next Airsoft Mission Day/Game. Ghost
